Hindu Views on Arranged Marriage
Hinduism is the religion that statistically has the most arranged marriages per year. A huge 90% of India's total marriages are arranged or forced, and that is a huge figure. In some urban areas arranged marriages are starting to go down, but only marginally. Hindu ideas on arranged marriage, much like Islam, are that it is completely adequate for people to engage in arranged marriage and that it is a completely normal practice especially for people living in South Asia.
Arranged marriage has no rules in Hinduism- there was nothing to inform Hindus on how marriage should occur from the Gods, and no rules were given about consent from either the man or the woman participating in the arranged marriage. Arranged marriage is seen as though it is as normal as a love marriage, and even forced marriages are very common.
In conclusion, arranged marriages are seen as right on Hindu terms, regardless of whether of not the man and woman had given consent.
